SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram I, 273-276. Obol (Silver, 15 mm, 0.51 g, 1 h). ‘mzdysn bgy wrhrʾn MRKAn MRKA ʾyrʾn W ʾnyrʾn MNW ctry MN yzdʾn’, i.e. ‘mazdēsn bay Wahrām šāhān šāh Ērān ud Anērān kē čihr az yaz(a)dān’ (‘The Mazda-worshipping Lord, Bahram, King of Kings of the Iranians and Non-Iranians, whose essence is from the gods’ in deteriorated Pahlavi) Draped bust of Bahram I to right, wearing diadem and radiate crown with korymbos. Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants, wearing different types of crowns; to right and left, ‘NWRA ˗ wrhrʾn’, i.e. ‘ādur Wahrām’ (‘Fire of Bahram’ in Pahlavi). Göbl type I/1. SNS II, type I(1)/1ab(1a). Struck from somewhat worn dies and porous, otherwise, very fine.
